Introduction and Perspective: These articles are created to inform a wide audience, whether it be Photography, Digital Cameras, Lenses, Photo Editing Software, Smart Phones, Laptops, iPads, iPhones, and a variety of related products that may attach to these devices. This is not the place for rumors, which has its own separate Category on our site.

Zacuto Z-Finder Pro 3.0 for 3.2″ Display, for Canon 5D Mk III, transforms the SLR into a HDTV Video machine

🔴 The Z-Finder Pro 3.0x for 3.2″ Screens from Zacuto is an optical viewfinder that videographers may find necessary for shooting sharp, stable video on DSLR cameras like the Canon 5D MkIII, Nikon D800, or others with the same size LCD display.

🔴 Whether shooting handheld or on a tripod, the Z-Finder Pro turns your camera’s 3.2″ LCD screen into a clear, easy-to-focus viewfinder that lets you see your image in magnified detail, even under the brightest sunlight. Just as crucially, the Z-Finder Pro provides an extra degree of handling comfort and a crucial point of contact–between camera and eye–that adds stability to any handheld video.

🔴 The Pro 3.0x version offers an adjustable diopter for near or far sighted users, and the LCD image is enlarged by a factor of 3.0x, so you can see every detail for pinpoint focus.

🔴 The Z-Finder attaches to your camera via the included Gorilla Baseplate and mounting frame, which mount to the bottom of your camera using a standard 1/4″-20 screw.

🔴 A non-stick rubber backing ensures a tight fit and prevents scratching of the LCD screen, so that the entire Z-Finder snaps off easily when not in use. Once detached, the unit can hang conveniently around your neck from the included lanyard. If you already have a Z-Finder, you can purchase just the Z-Finder 3.2″ Frame for small body cameras.

🔴 We have beeen using this Zacuto Z-Finders since the release of the first Canon 5D. Since we are investing in a new Canon 5D3 camera and support lenses, flash, vertical grip, we also need this 3.2″ version of Zacuto Finder as the newer Canon Digital SLR Cameras have 3.2″ display, where the original 5D cameras had Displays that were 3.0.” This added cost of some $370 is not chump-change; however when measured against the $7500 for the Canon 5D3 with two lenses, adding Zacuto Finder adds about 5% to the kit.

🔴 The most important factor to consider with Zacuto, is the transformation of your 5D3 into a very high quality High Definition Video recorder, matching the results of HDTV CamCorders costing 10 times this Kit price. And it your event does not need and HDTV recording the Zacuto easily disasembles off of the 5D3 in 20 seconds…

🔴 3.0x magnification.

🔴 40mm diameter lens for excellent light throughput.

🔴 Allows 3.2″ DSLR camera displays to have correct form factor for video.

🔴 Field of view perfectly matches 3.2″ LCD screen size.
