Canon’s New 40 Mega Pixel Digital Camera coming to Photokina Show (Update) โญโญโญโญ ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

August 6, 2013

Canon’s New 40 Mega Pixel Digital Camera coming Soon. Development announcement. There has been discussion lately about an upcoming โ€œbig megapixelโ€ camera body from Canon. The camera is slated for release some time in 2014. Weโ€™re told that there is a possibility that the camera will get a development announcement before the end of 2013.

A Canon digital full frame 5D3 styled SLR camera with a 40 MP imager, would render very high quality digital prints of approximately 18" by 24" at a resolution of 300dpi, or a Poster Print of 24" by 36" with a resolution of 210dpi. This level of High Resolution capability brings this camera into the true Medium Format arena in a relatively compact footprint, with compatibility to over 60 Canon Lenses.

There are continued discussions regarding to form factor of this Large Mega Pixel camera. Thereโ€™s probably a 50%/50% split in preferences between an EOS-1Dx body style body or an EOS 5D Mark III style body.

My personal preference would be the smaller footprint of the 5D3. Since the 5D3 has an outstanding accessory Battery Grip, I’d prefer that Canon concentrate on this 5D3 form-factor for their new generation Professional Digital Cameras. Want to be Candid and Stealthy, remove the battery grip; Need extra power for long shoots, or the Portrait Mode buttons, attach the Battery Grip. However, there are lots of people that love the ergonomics of the EOS-1D X. It may be possible there could be a new Foot-Print, it being a mix of both body styles.

Another source says there are 3 different Canon developed sensors currently in beta testing, all of which are above the 35mp pixel count. Canon is apparently quite motivated to make it crystal clear that it is THE industry leading sensor enterprise. We may see some of this new innovation exposed with the EOS 7D Mark II and perhaps even the 70D in the summer.

The EOS-1D X is apparently slated for replacement in late 2014 or early 2015, and Canon would like to have a large megapixel camera on the market before that happens.

Rumor Alert: nothing contained in this story has been confirmed by Canon nor any of its associates.
