iPad is Really Apple’s Next BIG Thing (update) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🍎🍎🍎🍎

September 27, 2013

iPad is Really Apple’s Next BIG Thing. Think about it, it took the iPhone from 2007 to 2013 to achieve a meaningful market share in the USA and Globally. Samsung who has been in the smartphone business for many years before Apple entered the market in 2007, released its flagship Galaxy S4. Within 60 days of its release, Samsung had to revise downward by 50% its sales projections of the S4. Not to take the “Spot Light” from the iPhone 5S and 5C amazing 9 million unit 3-day weekend, but, the iPad is going to “Take-Over” a huge percentage of the PC business in s few years.

Presently Apple’s iPhone 4S, last years model, is out-selling the new Galaxy S4 flagship. Of course the iPhone 5 is outselling the Galaxy S4 too. Therefore it required 4 to 5 years for the iPhone to become a meaningful competitor, actually the market-leader today, in this market segment, iPhone outselling its nearest competitor the Samsung Galaxy S4 by a margin of 2-to-one. The iPhone is selling at a rate of 344,444 iPhones Every Day, over 10 million/month. Lets turn to the iPad which is only 3 years old.

iPad came to the market for the first time with the original iPad in April 2010, into an already crowded Tablet Marketplace. Three years later, in 2013, the iPad has 3 models available the iPad v2 with 1024×768 pixel display, the iPad4 with its retina-display, and the iPad-mini with 1024×768 pixel display. The iPad/Tablet marketplace contains 14 vendors including Apple’s iPad (all models for the same vendor are grouped together).

With this relatively large number of competitors the iPad controls over 82% of all the this segment’s usage, rendering the graphic’s title “Apple iPad and the 13 Dwarfs.” The 2nd place vendor is Amazon’s Kindle with 6.5% and 3rd place is Galaxy Tablet with 4.7%, 4th place is Google’s Nexus with 1.6%… and goes down hill from there with all the remaining 9 vendors, each having less than 0.9%, 0.6%, 0.5%, 0.4%…

In what Apple calls this “Post PC Era” as more folks realize that they don’t need that Windows 14″ LapTop or 15″ Desktop to do their Emailing, On-Line Shopping, Internet Browsing, Writing Letters, Assembling Spreadsheets. As Apple’s iPads today in three flavors can accomplish all these activities with a very compact, portable, light-weight package, with a 10-12 hour battery life, Touch Screen interface, no more Mouses, GPS capability to enhance “knowing where you are, or where you want to go…

Post PC Era iPad People. Because of these factors, I too have become a Post PC iPad Person, not having turned on my ancient 15″ HP 8 pound laptop in over 6 months, and find no reason to do so. My iPad.v4 does it all, by including one inexpensive iPad accessory, the Logitech UltraThin Keyboard cover, $79 (or Belkin’s Keyboard Case, $99), and Viola, my iPad has been transformed into a “mini-laptop” with a 12 hour battery life, touch-screen capability, and none of that annoying Windows 5-minute startup time, no viruses, spyware, malware, trojans, worms, and no “driver updates.” My iPad is alive in 30 seconds, wonderful relatively inexpensive Apps and many free Apps, an amazing Printing Capability with wireless WiFi AirPrint printers.

🍎 Apple publishes there first weekend sales figures. These 5-panels show a portion of Five Years Press Release, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009 Press Releases. With each annual release, the Media doubts that Apple can maintain (not to mention eclipse) the previous year’s incredible iPhone sales. Looking at these four panels for only the 3-Day sales figures for The 3-Day Weekend events:

(2009) iPhone 3GS sales: 1,000,000 Units, No% meaningful change from 2008
(2010) iPhone 4 sales: 1,700,000 Units, 170% Increase from 2009, retina display
(2011) iPhone 4S sales: 4,000,000 Units, 235% Increase from 2010, better camera
(2012) iPhone 5 sales: 5,000,000 Units, 125% Increase from 2011, larger display
(2013) iPhone 5S sales: 9,000,000 Units, 180% Increase from 2012, better + FingerPrint Security

🍎 Incremental iPhone product releases vs. New Model releases. The Apple critics, and the expert talking heads over the recent 5 iPhone releases continue to say that not many folks will upgrade to only an “Incremental” iPhone release.

iPad and iPad-mini are slated for new iterations in 2013. The question remains, will the iPad or the iPad-mini receive the next version update first, and which improvements are critical for each.

iPad-Mini. Critics and Analysts are stating that Apple must have:
1⃣ Increase the iPad-mini’s display resolution to the retina-display standards of 326dpi, about the same as the iPhone 5 and iPad 4. Certainly Apple has the display resolution technology in hand, as evidenced by the iPhone 4, 5 and the iPad 4.
2⃣ Apple needs to enhance the iPad-mini battery capacity for the increased power requirements to drive 400% more pixels than the iPad-mini contains.
3⃣ Better front and rear Camera resolution, lens systems, Fast Aperture, 5-Shot HDR
4⃣ Processor speed and capacity.
5⃣ Onboard Memory size.
6⃣ Finger-Print security capability.

iPad-v5. Critics and Analysts are stating that Apple must have:
1⃣ Apple needs to enhance the iPad-mini battery capacity for the increased power requirements to drive the faster internal processor.
2⃣ Better front and rear Camera resolution, lens systems, and capabilities.
3⃣ Processor speed and capacity.
4⃣ Onboard Memory size.
5⃣ Finger-Print security capability.
6⃣ Trim the overall cabinet to match the iPad-mini’s thinner masking.

iPad v2 and iPad v4. The iPad with its 9.7″ brilliant display coupled to Logitech’s Ultra Thin Keyboard Cover, transforms the iPad into a compact laptop that is literally killing PC-Windows laptop sales, which is shrinking almost 15% per year. With the iPad only in existence for 3 years into an already crowded field, already have reached 82% market share. and with the Windows LapTop personal-computer segment falling for the for the last two years, these factors make the iPad, Apple’s Next BIG Thing, as customers jump from the traditional Windows PC Laptops to iPads.

Apple Releases a New iPhone, a New iPad, a New iPad mini, and Prices for the Prior Model Drops, This is Not News. What is News is APPLE Economic Engineering Equation.

1⃣ APPLE Economic Equation: Product Demand = Component Supply-lines || Product Fabrication Duration || Product Margin || New Release TimeTable. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook is the Grand Master of This Complex Equation.

2⃣ Apple Releases a New iPhone, a New iPad, a New iPad mini, a New iDevice, and Prices for the Prior Model Drops, This is Not News. Lets talk first abot the iPhone. The iPhone5 is selling at the rate of say 10 Million iPhones/Month. Just before the Announcement of the iPhone6 for example, iPhone5 sales rates decrease, and prices drop somewhat, like 10% to help mitigate the potential sales volume decrease. This is not news, other than the reasons for the product pricing.

3⃣ Think About it. With Apple actually selling 356,000 iPhones every Day, balancing the equation of slowing down the iPhone5 component-pipeline, like differing Camera Modules, modifying the iPhone5 product assembly, in combination with increaseing the component supply-line for the camera-modules for the iPhone6, balacing these factors against the Clock, when the iPhone6 Announcement occurs… Now multiply this by hundreds of product components for each device… In Sum, Very Complicated, and all in effort to keep the Inventory-Turns very High.

4⃣ FYI, with my 3-decade tour as a Commercial Banker, I have never financed, nor heard of any major Enterprise capable of turning their inventory 190 times per Year; Very, Very Good is 20x, Average is 6-10x, 190x is simply unheard of, except for Apple. Everything at Apple is apparently Optimized, not only in the creation of their amazing devices, its Operating Systems, the Sales channels, every minute detail, every cubic millimeter of the internals of their iPhones, iPads, iPods, MAC’s… and apparently Apple’s Financial Operations too.

5⃣ Auto Dealers DROP Prices and increase Advertising generally because they may be "stuck" with excessive inventory on their Lots; Apple, on the other hand has the Opposite Condition.

6⃣ Apple Sells their devices at such Rapid Rates, almost as fast as FOXCONN can make the devices, Apple’s Physical retail outlets and Internet Sales, Sell the Devices; therefore, there is approximately only a 5-Day inventory-pipeline on average, as APPLE engineers the balance of Product Demand, Component Supply-lines, Product Fabrication. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook is the Grand Master of This very Complex Equation.

🔢 Tim Cook represets our Modern Day Economic Business Man’s Einstein.

7⃣ Apple iPad 5 release date rumors have been flying around for months with the majority of these predictions being proved wrong, and this includes a number of blogs claiming Apple’s 5th generation iPad would launch in March/April thanks to insider sources, then we heard middle of this year thanks to industry insiders. It now seems pretty clear that Apple will deliver a new iPad 5 towards the end of this year and set the release date around one year since the last update.

8⃣ The iPad mini 2 is likely to launch around the same time and current users are clear on what they want, which top of the list for iPad mini features and iPad 5 features is multitasking. One of our readers simply said, “Dual screen for real multitasking, water and dust proof with quad core”. Do you know what you want from the new iPad 5 or mini 2?

9⃣ Expected new iPad 5 starts annual price drop – Apple’s official store never normally gives a discount, if they do it’s a tiny reduction, but the retailers looking at their iPad 4 stock will deliver a better price drop long before the iPad 5 release date. This is due to these retailers learning from experience that leaving a price drop too long could result in shoppers only wanting the latest model.

🔟 According to Mark Chubb, he has already heard about retailers cutting iPad 4 and mini prices this week, which over the past couple of weeks has included Walmart cutting $30 as an early taste of things to come. Retailers know delivering a small reduction around 5 months before iPad 5, or iPad mini 2, will help move stock faster and will help reduce the changes of being left with old models when the next-generation launch around October.

🔢 Not only are retailers like Walmart cutting the current iPad price, but they are also running down stock, according to Phones Review readers, which is supported by store employees stating, “64GB iPad stock is hard to come by”. We still have months to go before any new iPad will release, so in our opinion this is just retailers testing the water with small price cuts to make sure they clear all stock before October.

🔢 Bottom-line: retailers will be very tactical when it comes to price cuts and have a few years experience now when it comes to new Apple products launching, which can be very hard for retailers to predict considering Apple’s obsession with secrecy and last minute announcements for new products.

🔢 Would you purchase one of the current models if the price is right, or are you holding out for a new iPad 5 or iPad mini2?

🔢 No matter how you look at this picture, this Equation, Apple Wins. As the last iteration of the iPhone4 sells for $450 instead of $650, its cost to produce is about $200, then add operating expenses, the net profit margin is 35%. Yes a 35% Margin of profit was larger, say 55%, when the iPhone4 was first released.

🔢 Apple’s strategy, deliver the iPhone4 at $450/unit combined with a USA cellular subsidy of $449, giving the new to Apple Customer a 99¢ iPhone4. Not terrible for a device, the iPhone4, that has a mature, sustained, fine-tuned, segregated supply line. AND in the Meantime, is releasing a new iPhone5S, iPhone6, iPhoneX, for example, at the $650/unit combined with a cellular subsidy of $450/device, netting the upgrading Customer a $200 net in exchange for signing a 2year commitment for service.

  1. I am sure this paragraph has touched all the internet viewers, its really really fastidious article on building up
    new web site.

    • Not many are Noticing, however, the iPad is THE reason that PC sales are droppiing… Tens of Millons have or buy PC computers or PC laptops to perform simple tasks such listed below, ALL of which the Apple iPad does much better than a portable PC

      browse the internet
      pay bills
      email,
      facebook,
      twitter,
      write letters
      watch purchased movies
      watch NetFlix
      12 Hour battery

Personally I literally do “everything” on my iPad, Marilyn has an iPad mini.
When Apple delivers an iPad mini with retina display, I’ll get it. Combine an Apple iPad with a LOGITECH UltraSlim Keyboard Cover, and one had converted their iPad into the worlds best “laptop” with a brilliant, high resolution, touch-screen.
      Thanks for your comment.
